Our Question a Day Journal for Couples Experience

I always find it so sweet when my husband wants to reminisce with me through our past together. From the day of our wedding to the birth of our child(ren) to learning to be parents and many other milestones, I love hearing him talk about it all. Yet, these significant milestones are the ones that are easy to remember! The everyday lives we live together– the laundry, the cleaning, the finding dog toys buried in blankets, the poop (yes, even the poop)– are the things that really make our family a family. That’s why I love this book; because we can remember those little everyday things from the past and giggle at them years later.

Every night when the day is done, my husband and I write in “Our Q&A a Day 3-year couple journal”. It takes about 10 seconds to answer each question but they can really bring a smile to your face right before bed. There are questions in there like “What’s the sweetest thing your partner has done?” to “What’s one of the weirdest things your partner has done?” or even “What’s one habit you wouldn’t mind if your partner stopped doing?”. It really makes you stop to think of their needs and habits and (most of the time) will put a smile on your face when you see their answers. A nice little way to end the day.

I think that this little tradition has kept our eyes on each other and has either prevented or solved a lot of conflicts. For example, my dearest husband can never seem to put his keys on the key rack I got for him or his wallet in the bowl (which I also got for him). One day it showed up in the book and voila! The keys magically were on the rack the next day! It really brought sight to his eyes that it bugs me to have to be 20 minutes late anytime he’s home because he parked behind me and I can’t find his keys.

Sometimes, there are nights we are away from the house and don’t get to write in our book. Maybe we’re in Oregon visiting my parents or made a sweetheart trip down to St. George, we still do some sort of nightly activity together. One thing we would do is play jeopardy on the Amazon Alexa. Most of the time, neither of us knew the answers, but sometimes we did, and it ended up being an excellent story to tell!

So whether it’s writing in this book, making your own book, or playing jeopardy with Alexa, I think it’s good to have a nightly tradition with your loved one that’ll make your bond even stronger.
